Extremis was founded by designer Dirk Wynants in Poperinge, Belgium. The company began when Wynants designed an outdoor family table that would become Gargantua, the first Extremis product and the foundation of its philosophy.

Rather than describing its work simply as furniture, Extremis calls its products “Tools for Togetherness.” Tables, benches, lounge seating and shade systems are designed to encourage conversation, collaboration and shared experiences.

This focus on human interaction influences every part of the collection. Seating is arranged to help people face one another. Access points are reconsidered so joining a table feels more comfortable. Pantagruel Tables

The Pantagruel collection develops the idea behind Gargantua with refined proportions and additional functionality. Named after Gargantua’s son in the writings of François Rabelais, Pantagruel is available as a picnic table, freestanding dining table and high table.

A rotating central platform, or Lazy Susan, makes it easy to share food, drinks and other items around the circular surface. Guests can reach what they need without stretching across the table or disrupting the setting.

The Hopper collection reimagines the traditional picnic table through improved access and architectural form. Its silhouette takes inspiration from the hop fields of Belgium’s Westhoek region.

Open entry points at the ends make it possible to sit down without climbing over the bench or disturbing other people at the table. Angled legs and bench corners preserve space for movement while giving the design its distinctive outline.

The dedicated Hopper Shade integrates shelter with the Hopper table while preserving its clean footprint. An internal spring mechanism allows the canopy to open and close without requiring additional space beside the furniture.
